Hey, I'm Darcy

I have been creative for as long as I can remember. Sewing has always been a passion, but I have also learned to knit, crochet, paint...the list goes on and on!

I became a quilter approximately 20 years ago, and I began my foray into art quilting in 2013.  I am a self-taught quilt artist, and I am continuously learning new techniques to propel my art practice.

I am an elementary teacher as well, so in 2018 I bridged my love of teaching to teaching my techniques with textiles.  I have taught in-person workshops and on zoom, but I have always wanted to reach more people who want to learn my methods of creating my art.

Current Course Offerings

Create an Art Quilt Using My Mosaic Technique

In this fun and easy class, you will be creating an art quilt using my mosaic technique.

You will receive two pattern PDF's with the purchase of the course:  “Autumn at the Lake” and “Tranquil Morning”.

These are beginner/intermediate art quilt patterns for my published art quilts that appeared in Art Quilting Studio Magazine by Stampington in the Summer of 2019.

Kits are available in my Etsy shop, or you can use supplies and fabrics from your stash.  The finished piece will be an 8 by 10-inch piece of artwork that can be mounted onto an 11 by 14 -inch mat board ready for framing!

Creating Textile Art Pendants

Discover the joy of creating beautiful textile art pendants, using a bit of fabric, fusible web, and free motion quilting (or a small straight stitch if you prefer). In this online workshop, you’ll explore the fun in creating a mini-naturescape that can be placed into a pendant tray and covered with a glass cabochon to create a lovely necklace. This workshop welcomes both beginner and more experienced sewists!

“I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the project was completed… I just love the end product. Your introduction to this new art form,(for me) was an eye-opener. I will use this method again.”

“Enjoyed it very much. The fact that I could see what you were working on close up was a big bonus for me. I don’t think I would have learned as much in a classroom setting."

Virginia Smith

"It was such a lot of fun to follow your well-presented instructions, to stretch my mind to create an abstract sky and foreground, and step courageously into free motion quilting....Your patterns are well written and easy to follow and this has been such a playful time moving from traditional quilting and a confirmation that all those scraps I've been saving will be put to use.  I'm already planning a set of photo art scapes for my family.  Thanks so much!"
